A small vial of frankincense resin. Resins are often tree saps and the most natural from of incense, also known as the tears of a tree.

Frankincense is used for protection, purification, love & spiritual awareness, it has antidepressant qualities. Burned to dispel negativity, for spirituality, to purify spaces, consecration, protect against evil thoughts & energies, exorcism of negativity and aids in meditation. Can induce psychic visions, courage, protection, attract good luck, and honour Pagan deities & ancestral energies. It has antiseptic qualities and can help improve lung function, removing congestion. Many cultures around the world use frankincense in a variety of rituals for healing and self care. It is used in a oil form in beauty products and more! It’s smell is pleasant and perfumy and uplifting.

Frankincense is known as a quality incense. It comes from the Boswellia tree considered unusual for their ability to grow in environments so unforgiving that they sometimes grow out of solid rock. They are the sap or “tears” that come from the bark.

How to use:

There are a few techniques. Burn in pea sized amount on a charcoal in a fire proof dish or other vessels for burning herbs and incenses. Burn in a charcoal by lighting the charcoal and placing pieces of your raw incense resin on it as you wish to create a stream of smoke. Place in a fire proof dish or a large shell, I sell them here... You can also place it in sand in a bowl or use a cast iron dish for burning herbs. Can also be burned on logs in a fire, or piece by piece on a candle. Note resins become a molten liquid when burned, please take care. There are rituals and ceremonies online, you can search ceremonies for burning herbs. On the blog I have a few I like posted, under “Burning Herbs”. Say your own affirmations or invent your own rituals, or just use as an incense. You can read my blog post on burning herbs as well for ideas here....

My current favorite way to burn them is  in a brass aromatherapy lamp with a tea light candle in the appropriate spot underneath and add a few pieces to the spacee for the oil.
